Attire For The Course
Golf has become a major sport across the world and is not likely to go away any time soon. It is often called a rich mans game due to the costs involved to play. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that if you don't have money you can't play.
If you play this wonderful game called golf, you will find that it is also a wonderful way to meet new people. At the same time you are learning the game it would be a good idea to also learn about proper golf attire and style. All sports, whether baseball, tennis, or horse racing, have a distinctive code of dress.

Golfing takes a lot of trial and error to become good at. It is through the bad swings, patience and landing in sand pits or ponds that one develops their game.

However, before you can even step onto a golf course you must learn the first most basic rule of golf... dress code! Dress code is not just for style - it serves a practical purpose when the topics of movement and temperature are addressed.

The style and fabrics for golf attire have changed somewhat over the years. Knickers and knee-length socks are no longer common place. Although who knows, perhaps Tiger himself may one day opt for a pair of Nike knee-highs.

Current golf attire is designed (for the most part) with temperature and weather in mind. For this reason, a good golf shirt must keep moisture and perspiration away from the skin, be sanitary, and at the same time still be comfortable enough to wear. Remember...golf is played outside for hours at a time.

Now we've all seen golf shirts in the store, however just because we see a shirt in the store doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good golf shirt. A great golf shirt can be pricey, yet is worth every cent. The less aggravation caused by your attire, the more concentration you can put forth into your golf game.

Quality

A good golf shirt should be made with 100% cotton - although not all cotton is the same, there's regular cotton and then there's Pima cotton. Pima cotton is of the highest quality. The yarn is longer, stronger, and extremely durable compared to the regular kind. Prima cotton results in a softer, silkier, and more durable fabric. Look for this type of cotton on the labels of pants and shirts prior to purchasing.

Comfort aside, you also want to look good on the course. As a general guideline for men, you will want to wear golf or polo shirts, tailored shirts, Bermuda shorts or golf pants. Women, unlike men can get away with a blouse. As well, women can wear golf pants, dress pants or dress shorts. For both men and women, try purchasing colors that will work in accordance with weather conditions - light colors will keep you cooler. The same holds true for cooler weather - wearing darker colors will capture the suns warmth.

Golf Shoes

Golf shoes are also of great importance as they help you to transfer your weight from the upper body to the lower body during a golf swing. At the same time, they also help you shift the weight that's being transferred from one leg to the other. If your ankle's are not properly stabilized than your body may sway causing your ball to go awry. A properly fitted golf shoe should give good support while still cushioning your feet. The best place to find proper golf shoes is a sporting goods store or golf specialty shop - not a department store. Golf specialty shops and sporting goods stores specifically specialize in sports and golf merchandise - making them far better equipped to help you purchase a properly fitted product.

A proper pair of golf shoes and gloves can greatly improve your game. However, make sure they are comfortable for the endured walk over the course. You will want to look your best, be comfortable, and portray quality - as quality always shows. People will see that not only are you serious about the game, yet you're also willing to show respect for the game - playing the part of a well dressed golfer. Believe it or not, people will judge you not only on the way you play the game but also on how you present yourself.

You can't put a price on quality - indulge and spend the extra money. You'll see that it will be well worth it in the long run.

Before attempting any exercise or diet modification, always consult a fitness or medical professional.
